The Lesson of LIGHT אוֹר

One of the first lessons I help a Mussar student learn/receive is THE LESSON OF LIGHT. Just observe the light of a candle’s flame in the dark. What do you see? What does the Light DO? One observation is that it simply GIVES. It doesn’t insist on reciprocity in order to give.

Many observations can be made from that one exercise.  What’s even more spectacular about LIGHT is we are called ‘children of Light’ (Matthew 5), instructed to ‘walk in the light’ (Ephesians 5), and again we are called ‘children of light and day’ (1 Thessalonians 5).

‘LET THERE BE LIGHT’ was AND IS the first command in Scripture, and it is still in effect today putting in Divine Order every aspect of our living. LIGHT was not only first commandment in our Creation Account, it was first to be declared GOOD.  LIGHT IS GOOD.  (Tov!)

ALEPH-VAV-RESH is how OHR (Light) is spelled out in Hebrew. It looks like this in Hebrew Script: אוֹר

Celestial אוֹר originally clothed Adam and Chavah. Following their transgressive MISDEED, however they subsequently lost that אוֹר.

DIVINE CELESTIAL LIGHT was replaced with ‘skin’ with the same phonetic sound ‘owr’ spelled ayin-vav-resh: עוֹר

Adam and Chavah had lost the ALEPH א. It was replaced with the letter ‘ayin’ ע.

LIGHT BEGINS WITH ALEPH (meaning ‘Strong AUTHORity’).

Skin begins with the Hebrew letter ayin (meaning ‘eye’).

HOW is it/are we to be reCOVERed? The answer is in these Hebrew letters themselves. When we give back our eye (vision) to humility (Anavah also begins with letter ‘ayin’) to THE STRONG AUTHORity, we not only regain KINGDOM VISION – we begin walking out our divine mission in Spirit and Truth.

Do you see the connection with what we CHOOSE to give our EYE over to and THE LIGHT HIMSELF? Yeshua our Messiah IS The Aleph (and The Tav!), the Beginning and the End.

You are children of Light

⁸ For you used to be darkness; but now, united with the Lord, you are light. Live like children of light, ⁹ for the fruit of the light is in every kind of goodness, rightness and truth — ¹⁰ try to determine what will please the Lord. ¹¹ Have nothing to do with the deeds produced by darkness, but instead expose them, ¹² for it is shameful even to speak of the things these people do in secret. ¹³ But everything exposed to the light is revealed clearly for what it is, ¹⁴ since anything revealed is a light. This is why it says,

“Get up, sleeper! Arise from the dead,
and the Messiah will shine on you!”

¹⁵ Therefore, pay careful attention to how you conduct your life — live wisely, not unwisely. ¹⁶ Use your time well, for these are evil days. ¹⁷ So don’t be foolish, but try to understand what the will of the Lord is.

We should be having YEHI OHR! MOMENTS. That is, ‘LET THERE BE LIGHT’!  In Order (Ohrder) for LIGHT to EXIST, we must ‘LET IT’.

The Divine Message is clear: If we hope to walk as children of Light, we need to RECOVER THE ALEPH which means turning back to The Light!
