What do you ‘see’ when you look at somebody? What’s the first thing you notice about them? Then what happens? Perhaps you’ve already made an involuntary judgment of some kind about them based on appearance alone?
What’s really going on here?
Doesn’t make you bad…Doesn’t make me bad. It does, however, make us human.
The human has been granted something incredible though – a spiritual insight, foresight, hindsight (binah) by which to live by when we choose to become one with Yeshua’s Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).
This is
REAL understanding.
As humans, what we see on a daily basis with the physical eye must be overcome in order to live by the Ruach.
We have two eyes, yes…physically.
But, spiritually, we have two ‘eyes’ from which to choose from as well – The
ayin hara – the ‘bad eye’, the simple physical eye that doesn’t discern spiritual truths AND the
ayin tovah – the ‘good eye’ that sees according to the Ruach.
The ayin hara is a wholly inadequate means by which to live from.
I think we might be shocked to learn which eye we use most in ‘seeing’, viewing a person or persons. I think we might feel a little shame when we realize that our preferred eye most of time just might just be the ‘physical eye’. For it takes something far deeper to see with the ayin tovah…it takes a regenerating work of the Ruach HaKodesh changing the mind, which changes the eye, which changes the course of action. Indeed, the ayin tovah changes the ENTIRE WORLD of its possessor.
Even the Prophet Samuel had to be schooled in which eye to use in looking for ADONAI’s chosen man-king to replace Saul. YHWH instructed him in using the ‘eye of faith’ – the ayin tovah, the ‘good eye’ – to SEE into the realm of His Ruach…and not simply what he could see with the physical eye…appearances, physique, height, etc.
For The Follower of Yeshua lives by FAITH (what’s not seen with the physical eye, but rather perceived by the inner man who IS governed by His Ruach), and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
For me personally, I understand, perceive, know that His Ruach is at work deep within my soul when I RECOGNIZE the ruach/inner man of another precious individual FIRST…then I notice his ‘covering’.
“Do not observe his sight/appearance/vision or his height, for I have rejected him; [it is] not as man sees. Man sees (looks) with the eye, YHWH sees (looks) with the leb”(Hb. – heart/mind/inner man.) ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
The question we need to ask is WILL we see only what’s on the surface with all its appearances…or WILL we choose to press in, becoming one with His Ruach, learning the things of His Ruach and being changed from within ourselves (thus, ‘seeing with the renewed heart’).
WILL I see what’s on the surface of man’s exterior? Or WILL I see what’s in the deeper realm? One is easy. The other is impossible without the Holy Spirit’s work.
Proverbs 4:1 – HEAR, MY sons, the instruction of a father, and pay attention in order to gain and to know intelligent discernment, comprehension, and interpretation [of spiritual matters].
1 Corinthians 2:14-15 – But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated. [15] But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him].
Colossians 1:9 – 9For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [ special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [ in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things– 10That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition]. 11[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy,
We’re foolish to live such a miserly existence when an ENTIRE KINGDOM has been given to us…
Shalom, Light & Love,
